Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT), also known as hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy (HMSN), is a group of inherited neurological disorders that affect the peripheral nerves. These disorders lead to muscle weakness and sensory deficits, especially in the extremities, and can cause balance and coordination problems.
